The Saddle Creek Community Services District was formed as a responsible agency to maintain the new community roads built during the installation of the Saddle Creek Resort. Roads built decades ago and outside of Saddle Creek are typically under the ownership responsibility of the county. When Calaveras County stopped accepting new roads into the system it maintains, it required that new community roads needed to be maintained to local standards by a different source. The CSD was born to facilitate the process of determining that standard, implementing a maintenance plan and funding the roads in Saddle Creek. SCCSD is now responsible for the maintenance of Saddle Creek Resort roads, storm drains, wildlife and wetlands easements and any landscaping not part of the facilities maintained by Castle & Cooke.
